“2005 – The First Annual Beer Team Canada Games”

May 20, 2005 (TORONTO) – Beer Team Canada officially announced the birth of an annual tradition, the Beer Team Canada Games. The idea was spawned in 2004 when three BTC members took part in a cottage weekend celebrating the dirty-thirtieth birthday of Matt Smiley, a hard-nosed, no-nonsense lover of the lager (second from left in the lineup).

The Venue for the 2005 Games was a matter of some discussion, before the Team decided on Harcourt Park, the site of 2004′s festivities. A natural choice, as the Paulaner Family Cottage is the very birthplace of “Dock-Grappling,” a cherished, and beloved cottage sport for the ages.
As the first of many annual BTC Games, the 2005 edition will feature individual and team beersports events coupled with traditional lager-lout activities. Events include:

  • Gitch-Pitch
  • Chugging Relay
  • Individual Chug
  • Individual Shotgun
  • Cap Flick
  • Dock-Grappling (pictured below)
  • Euchre
    and many more

The Beer Team Canada Games is an opportunity for the Team to assess its top prospects, and to enjoy the cultured comradely typically associated with the Team.
